# describe your decomposition in bounds/mybound.json
make fit BOUND=bounds/mybound.json ARGS=--write
make verify BOUND=bounds/mybound.json

fit solves for the exact coefficients, or tells you no exact combination of your terms reproduces the target. verify rebuilds the identity in exact arithmetic. If it passes, open a pull request adding the file and the leaderboard picks it up on the next build.

A bound the pipeline cannot check is recorded as cited and never takes a record.

The state

|H⟩=cos(π/8)|0⟩+sin(π/8)|1⟩

The qubit H-type state, the edge centre of the stabilizer octahedron. Clifford-equivalent to the phase state (|0⟩ + eiπ/4|1⟩)/√2, which is what the literature usually means by 'the T state'.

The most studied cell in the field: χ ≤ 7 at six copies underpins the standard 20.47n figure, and the cat-state rank 6 there (exponent 0.431, Qassim, Pashayan, and Gosset, arXiv:2106.07740) refuted the conjecture that 7 was optimal. The published exponent log₂3/4 comes from their asymptotic contracted-cat-state family rather than from any single m, so every finite-m entry here sits above it. The ZX restatement of Kissinger, van de Wetering, and Vilmart (arXiv:2202.09202) adds a partial decomposition of |T⟩⊗5 into three terms that each keep one |T⟩, so χ(Tt) ≤ 3χ(Tt−4); it gives 9 at m=7 and 12 at m=8, and the glued |cat₁₀⟩ gives 18 at m=10 (exponent 0.417).
